Alcatel One Touch Idol 2 is Now Coming to European Stores

Way back in December 2013, TCL introduces a 5-inch Idol X+ smartphone in China. An eight-core powered device treated with MediaTek MT6592 chip. It was followed by a Boom Band accessory under the flagship of Alcatel specifically designed to extend the capabilities of the said device and user experience. According to previous reports, the Chinese manufacturer will brought up this handset to the global market in a different name. And One Touch Idol 2 might be a variant of Idol X+ despite of unclear previously announced specs.

Alcatel One Touch Idol 2 is powered by a quad-core chip at 1.2GHz. That makes a total difference from the previously reported Idol X+ with MediaTek's octa-core technology going back to China. This might be a low-end smartphone which come in two different flavors, the 4.5-inch and 5-inch models. Both are running an Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) operating system.

The smaller version is called Alcatel One Touch Idol 2 Mini which is coming to European stores for about 170-euro (3G version) and an LTE-enabled model for 210-euro. It is equipped with 8-megapixel of main and 2-megapixel of front-facing cameras. This line offers a high-definition (HD) display and available in four different colors. Despite of its underlying quad-core chip, it has a few shortcomings in terms of built-in storage and memory size.

Furthermore, the 5-inch model will hit the European market by the month of April or May of this year from about 200-euro to 250-euro. That is good for 3G and LTE-enabled models with a closer specs to its smaller variant aside from its 1.3-megapixel front-facing cam. It is quite thicker than the Mini version and can be considered as a high-end variant of OneTouch Idol 2.

In addition, both models supports an Android 4.4 (KitKat) upgrade and expected to arrive in World Mobile Congress few days from now.
