Lenovo ThinkPad T440S Ultrabook with 2.6GHz Intel Core i5-4200U CPU

This year, Lenovo will offer a 14-inch machine with fourth-generation of Intel Core i5 processor. A new variant of ThinkPad T440S Ultrabook to sport a full high-definition (HD) display, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of solid-state drive (SSD). As part of the company's T-Series ultra-portable computers, it is a touchscreen-enabled device bundled with Windows 8 operating system.

ThinkPad T440S is powered by Intel Core i5-4200U (quad-core) at 2.6GHz with 3MB cache. Combined with 4GB DDR3 memory for optimal performance in gaming. In my own assessment, this machine is capable of rendering vivid images and videos because of its underlying Intel HD Graphics 4400 GPU. A good combination of RAM, storage, and CPU boasted for any computing requirements.

However, ThinkPad T440S also shows a few shortcomings. To start with, a 128GB storage (from base configuration) is not enough if you intend to use it in storing movies, music, and other multimedia files. Next, the price is quite high compared to some 14-inch machines with Windows 8 Profession Edition operating system.

According to review made by Slash Gear, Lenovo ThinkPad T440S has a closer appearance with X240 machine. Except for some features which is not available from its smaller and affordable variant. Other specs includes a typical 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, USB 3.0 ports, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity support, MicroSD card slot, and a fingerprint scanner module for security purposes.

In addition, its keyboard has a special function key supported by Windows 8. Additional features which enables fast access in menus and shortcuts aside from its touchscreen capability. Review shows that even the base configuration of this machine has been optimized for faster and efficient performance.
