Adding a new flavor to a 4.3-inch smartphone can make a possible difference. The official website of Samsung in Russia announced their plan for a Galaxy S4 Mini Black Edition (GT-I9505) by the month of February 2014 following the appearances of Note 3 as the complimentary variant for athletes.

Furthermore, the black and limited edition includes a typical Samsung Galaxy S4 (5-inch original version) along with the 4.3-inch model. Sad to say, these variants are only expected to arrive in Russian stores and no words for its availability in other regions.

Asus PadFone Notes 6, Android 4.2 and Intel Atom Z2580 Phablet

Some 7-inch model are equipped with the same chip but not for a 6-inch smartphone with Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) platform. The entire packaging is slightly confusing because probably of its unique size.

Review of Asus PadFone Notes 6 is in favor of its underlying technology and devices. Although it has a dual-core CPU, some smartphones are already taking advantage the power of quad-core chips. We can say that Intel has a different performance compared to Cortex-A series or Samsung Exynos. And those handsets showed out in stores with a budget-friendly and affordable prices.

But the company introduces a new line of Galaxy Note Pro SM-P905V which recently appeared in FCC website. A wider model to hit Verizon and other local network providers in United States as expected.

Availability of the above mentioned tablets are probably the most anticipated models to join the other 11-inch to 13-inch handheld machines in stores by the first or second quarter of 2014. The A3300 and A3500 is probably packed with 8GB to 16GB of built-in flash storage just like of other Chinese-made tablets. Under the hood might be a Qualcomm Snapdragon or MediaTek quad-core microchips. Compared to the Lenovo's hybrid machine, the convertible IdeaPad Yoga 11, A-series are probably up as a budget-friendly and affordable handheld computers.

Portable high-performance computers continue to live despite of competition. Their number continue to grow in the market in seasonal basis. The company CEO, Tim Cook officially announced the newest investment of Apple in Arizona, to produce a sapphire substrate glass for the next generation of their portable devices. At first, I just heard of sapphire substrate in Gorilla Glass technology. A durable glass intended for handheld devices that includes smartphones and tablets at any size. Apple is up for a mass production through their gigantic facility in Arizona, the home of original Mac Pro computer. Behind the development of Apple's sapphire glasses are Synopsys and Bern Optics, the two companies who are also investing some of their resources.

Apple iPhone 6 Reportedly Sapphire Substrate Display

Furthermore, a local Taiwanese publication, the Apple Daily reported that Foxconn started the production of first one-hundred iPhone 6 units with sapphire glass display. Apple also noted that they are planning to expand the function of iPhone's home button through a sapphire glass technology. That is to redesign the function of a built-in sensor for a more responsive action by capturing a particular layer of user's skin.

And because of the increasing demand of sapphire glass wafer for their new upcoming products, Apple is reaching the local producer in Taiwan. Nobody knows their exact plan on when to reveal their new iconic device, but I am hopeful for another affordable and budget-friendly line of smartphone. Furthermore, the good thing about this special edition of Galaxy Note 3 is that, it is about to carry the flag of Samsung along with the banners of other nations. Toshiba 13.3-Inch Chromebook CB35-A3120 Hits Amazon for $280

The variants of Chromebook computers from Acer, Samsung, and HP has a screen sizes less than 12-inch. Way back in CES 2014, Toshiba introduces their very own line to join the previously reported machines with unique and wider display. And the CB35-A3120 PLM01U-002005 recently appeared in Amazon for about $280.00 only.

Toshiba's Chromebook CB35-A3120 has a 13.3-inch display. It is wider compared to Acer's C720P-2600, HP's 11-1101US, and to Samsung's ARM A15-powered version. All of these handheld machines are now available in Amazon with price ranges from $200.00 to $370.00. Except for Samsung, the three different lines of Chromebook are powered by Intel processors.

Since the first appearance of Sony Xperia Z Ultra, the device gave us a few confusing features. At first, I heard of a GSM-enabled variant. Furthermore, the company officially announced the availability of Xperia Z Ultra WiFi-only model in Japanese retail store. Except for a GSM support, this version is also equipped with the same specs of the previously reported phablet. Nokia Lumia 1320 is Another Windows Low-End Smartphone to Hit the Market

Sometimes, it is hard for us to compare a well-known device one after the other. But to talk about a Windows-powered smartphone in a low-end housing, the manufacturer probably overseen the need of practical buyers, right? Review made by Engadget of Nokia Lumia 1320 can help the said handset to standout despite of some shortcomings.

Compared to Apple's iPhone 5s and few of HTC's new line of handsets, Lumia 1320 got a different flavor for colors. However, treating the entire device with a plastic cover is like packing a high-quality product with a low protective material.

Nokia Lumia 1320 Colorful Plastic Cover

Available protective gear could possibly help the handset to stay longer from the hands of any user. But of course, they can only offer a minimum ranges of protection. A rubberized cases might be ideal for Lumia 1320 for absorbing shocks from unwanted impacts.

The entire handset doesn't show a low-quality outer cover. And it is because of a metal-like appearance that makes the Lumia 1320 a strong device in the outside.

In addition, I am not doubting about the underlying specs of this handset but remember, it is the only Nokia's Windows Phone 8.1 device with a very affordable prices. For me, it is the only thing that matter despite of some shortcomings.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite, 3G and Wi-Fi Version Debuted in Russia

A 3G and Wi-Fi only version of Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite is now available in Russia for pre-order. The slimmest 7-inch line of tablet is expected to arrive in the global network by the first quarter of this year. Reports coming from different corner of the world suggests a new wave of the budget-friendly handheld machine which is ideal for students and professionals because of lightweight design.

From the name Galaxy Tab 3 Lite, it is clear that Samsung is making a few changes in some of their upcoming slates due to the shortcomings of its predecessor in stores. And it is also known for its possible quality despite of a low-end microchip. Under the hood is a dual-core 1.2GHz Marvell PXA986 CPU with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite in Russian Website

Other version of Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite has a GSM support unlike of what the Russian folks can avail nowadays. According to a reliable source, the 8GB model with Wi-Fi falls to about $190.00 only while the 3G enabled is up for nearly $300.00. These are the only two versions of Samsung's new upcoming tablets I heard to hit Russia for this month.

Following the appearances of Samsung Galaxy Round way back in the month of November 2013, G Flex showed out as the second handset with curvy structure. LG first brought out the 6-inch G Flex in Korean retail stores. The first smartphone to sports a Plastic OLED display with a few shortcoming because of the said technology. It has a lower screen resolution compared to other handsets treated with AMOLED screen. And the advantage of having a curved handheld device is probably to bring a comfortable grip for the user.

LG 6-Inch Curved G Flex Smartphone

ZTE's Quing Yang 2 and Memo II Octa-Core Powered Smartphones from China

Having an octa-core powered smartphone can probably change our way of thinking towards on how Apple, Samsung, and other well-known competing brands to gain their success in the global market. A quad-core technology made a strong foundation for these company to continue their commitment in producing a high quality and promising products.

But now, Chinese manufacturers are pushing the limit of any possible standards by treating their native smartphones with octa-core technology and closer specs with what we can get from other foreign manufacturers. ZTE recently introduced a Quing Yang 2 and Memo II phones in Beijing powered by MediaTek's MT6592 eight-core CPU at 1.7GHz.

ZTE New Eight-Core Powered Smartphone from China

If these smartphones are running with the same size of cache to Intel Core i7, I am imagining a desktop or laptop computer capable of running a Windows 8.1 smoothly. However, these new wave of handsets are limited in terms of memory sizes and storage capacity. A 5-inch handset could only house a minimal number of capabilities we cannot compared to any typical computers.

Going back to Quing Yang 2, it has a 5-inch IPS display, 1GB of RAM and only 8GB of built-in storage. A MicroSD card slot is also available for additional space. And it is also equipped with 5-megapixel (main or rear) and 0.8-megapixel (front) cameras. The new line of dual-SIM handset from China with CDMA support and fully customized Android operating system.

The Memo II is packed with the same MediaTek's chip, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage. Has a 6-inch IPS screen with 13-megapixel (rear) and 5-megapixel (front) cameras. Compared to Quing Yang 2, this model has a higher specification in terms storage and memory capacity. It is equipped with 3200mAh Lithium-Ion battery just like of other high-end brands from China.

Quing Yang 2 and Memo II has a closer specs to TCL's 5-inch Idol X+ with the same eight-core processor. Availability of these new Android smartphones in the neighboring countries of China is probably fall to different brand names.

Until now, nobody knows the exact name of Sony's fascinating D6503 handset after its appearances in forums and reports. It is probably the first of its kind in terms of promising performance from Intel Core i5-4200U chip paired with 4GB of RAM. However, it has a common appearances with Lenovo's IdeaPad Yoga 11 (Lynx).

Both of these two different convertible machines are capable of extending the experience of user from a typical laptop to a fully functional tablet. The quad-core underlying technology of Lenovo Let's Note CF-MX3 makes the newest hybrid PC more powerful than any IdeaPad Yoga with Intel Atom Z2760 or equivalent processors.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Pelican ProGear CE1250 Protective Case

One thing we can do to prolong the lifespan of our gadgets is to find a protective gear against the nature and unanticipated happenings. Through the advancement of smartphone casings, availability of their specialized peripherals continue to expand nowadays.

Pelican introduced a ProGear CE1250 intended for the line of Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphones. An extreme protective gear that can ease some of our worries in terms of dropping a 5-inch handset. It is made of a high-grade polymer material than can give an extra protection in impact. Compared to ProGear 1150 as well with other protective case from the company, the CE1250 is capable of covering the entire sides of the handset.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Pelican ProGear CE1250 Protective Case

Furthermore, the interior of ProGear CE1250 is made of Elastomeric Copolymer material. A scientifically created material capable of absorbing shocks from any range of impacts. Compared to a rubberized plastic casings, this will be the advantage of the said protective gear. It has been optimized for possible breakage unlike with other synthetic fiber casings.

And the only disadvantage of having a ProGear CE1250 aside from protecting the entire device from impact is that, it can turn Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone to a bulky device. However, we can also find this changes in other specialized casings.

In addition, Pelican ProGear CE1250 is not a waterproof casing. It is only design to work with shocks and impacts but not to protect our smartphone from other unwanted problems. And buyers can choose from either black, white, blue, purple, and grey with the shade of orange for about $40.00 only. No words for its availability in iPhone 5s or other Samsung's Android-powered competing handsets for now.
