Microsoft Offers an Additional 20GB Free Space for SkyDrive Users

Good news for SkyDrive users! Microsoft offers an extended 20GB of free storage this holiday season. A complimentary freebies or gift for people who are using Windows-powered smartphones. From 7GB initial free size, it is now jumping to a total of 27GB. However, when your subscription expires and you exceed from the minimum amount of free space, they will not allow any user to upload additional files but viewing, sharing, and downloading of files will continue. This will force us to buy an upgrade for more storage space.

Current subscribers received a notification via e-mail additional 20GB free space. And this is only good for one whole year starting on January 31, 2014. For now, saving your photos, videos, and other files will be saved in 7GB space. Consumers could only avail their additional size a month and week from this moment.

Take note, users are required to redeem this extra storage by following instructions included on e-mail notification. This treat is giving me a few question to answer. And that is when subscription prematurely terminated by user. What will going to happen in subscriber's data? Is it transferable or not? Who will manage the uploaded files? Is there anyone who will become responsible for unexpected misuse?

In addition, few days before we heard that update of Windows 8.1 affected the storage configuration of SkyDrive. And the latest version of operating system could possibly change our way of using their cloud storage services.
