IEC Announces Technical Specification 62700 for Notebook Universal Chargers

I am glad to hear that some people are actually working and totally concerned with tons of yearly electronic wastes. International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) recently published a technical specification for portable computer chargers, the 62700. It is intended for universal DC power supplies for notebook computers.

According to report, this could lessen or reduced our electronic wastes from about 500-thousand tons every year from different type of computers and gadgets. Experts coming from around the world has been consulted to contribute in IEC Technical Specification 62700: DC Power Supply. The National Committees who are working behind the standardization accepted the proposal.

Because of the new technical specification, universal chargers will now be designed by manufacturers to reduced power consumption. And also for wastes coming from the original model bundled in notebook computers. A new milestone in electronic industry as well in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) field to embrace an environment-friendly device in the near future.

Furthermore, the technical specification will become available by the first quarter of 2014 as noted by IEC press release.
