HTC Volantis is the New Upcoming Google Nexus Device?

An Italian website spotted a new device where Google is possibly working with. This might be a mysterious 8.9-inch tablet which recently appeared in a newly started site. However, the said portable machine has no specific name aside from those clues that leads to HTC Volantis. And it is my first time to hear this mystical device to stand under the flagship of Nexus.

Furthermore, as I try to look around, some of HTC Volantis technical specifications are now available but nobody can tell the exact plan of the search engine giant to offer a new line of Nexus products. Probably, far from what we know, they are already working on it.

HTC 8.9-inch Volantis Tablet

Aside from those rumors, someone in Twitter shares a factual image of HTC Volantis as the new upcoming Google Nexus device. And some of those specs shows that it is equipped with Logan K1 NVidia Tegra chip, 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of storage, 8-megapixel of main camera, and supports a 2048 x 1440-pixel screen resolution.

The above technical details is not enough to confirm the upcoming new Google tablet. But photos coming from unknown source are really convincing for a new line of Nexus device. And the only thing I know for sure, this tablet will be running the newest version of Android to face the existence of iOS 8.

Walmart Started to Offer Apple iPhone 5S for $99 Only

Walmart is slashing the prices of Apple iPhone 5S and 5C as noted by reports. The store started to offer a 16GB model for $99.00 only with two-year binding contract. This might be an entry-level for the blockbuster and colorful handsets but the price is already reasonable for the craving consumers. Hopefully, the global stores will follow Walmart a much cheaper iPhone and even lesser monthly amortization.

According to a reliable source, Walmart is permanently dropping the price of iPhone 5S and 5C. Probably, that is because of the upcoming iPhone 6 which is expected to replaced its predecessors in stores. And while waiting for that 4.7-inch or 5.5-inch smartphone to arrive, Walmart is looking for a new way to offer a much cheaper handset in United States.

Apple iPhone 5S and 5C in Walmart

This deal in Walmart is not new for the past years. Last year, when Apple officially announced the availability of iPhone 5S and 5C, the store started to offer a discounted model of iPhone 4S ahead of its appearances in Apple's recognized outlets. Sad to say, no words for the availability of 8GB model in a budget-friendly prices.

For now, compared to other local stores and network providers, Walmart is offering a much lower prices for iPhone. And this would probably last for a matter of two or three years.

A Well Discounted Yellow 16GB iPod Touch is Now Available

Surprisingly, while waiting for the blockbuster iPhone 6, a new version of iPod Touch is now available. And guess what, it is a yellow 16GB model with a well discounted price from original. However, do not expect an iOS 8 pre-loaded variant but the new line of 32GB and 64GB are now treated with 5-megapixel main camera.

From $229.00, the newest version of iPod Touch is now available for $199.00 only. This might be a reasonable price for a touchscreen-enabled device with 16GB of built-in storage. Compared to the original and dominant models of iPod Touch in stores, the new models are treated with only few changes aside from having a good price.

And the said yellow 16GB version of iPod Touch has been added to the new line of 32GB and 64GB models with 5-megapixel of camera. Both are now available for pre-order in Apple's official Web store and it is expected to appear in the global market few days from now. That is to replaced the older and pioneering models in stores.

Before I can forget, the 32GB model is available for $249.00 and 64GB for $299.00 or nearly $300.00 only.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is Debuted in Hong Kong for HK 6,288.00

Microsoft officially announced the third generation of Surface Pro last month and it is now headed to the global market to compete in other notable brands. And following the appearances of the said 12-inch ultra-portable device in Taiwan few weeks ago, it is now available in Hong Kong with prices ranging from HK 6,288.00 to HK $15,088.

A handful of Microsoft Surface Pro 3 accessories is also available from about HK 38.00 to HK $1,048.00 only. That is good for an extra charger, stylus and handwritten pens, hardwired network adapter, multi-function base, and exclusive type cover (keyboard). And just like of my expectation, the new version of this machine is pre-loaded with Microsoft Windows 8.1 operating system.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 in Hong Kong Stores

According to reports, the base configuration is powered by Intel Core i3 CPU with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. A much higher memory and storage capacity is also available ranging from 4GB to 8GB and 128GB to 512GB of solid-state drive (SSD). Prices varies base on buyer's selected configuration and additional accessories.

In terms of processor, from Intel Core i3, a more powerful version is also available but that is for a much higher prices compared to what we can get in the base model. That is good for an Intel Core i7-powered variants with 256GB to 512GB of SSD storage. An Intel Core i5 model is also available for about HK 7,888.00 to HK $10,288.

And before I can forget, prices of older Microsoft Surface Pro started to decline last February while the third generation threatens to replaced them in stores.

Five High-End But Budget-Friendly Android Tablets in 2014

Upon knowing an Intel Atom-powered MeeGoPad F10, I decided to review some of my previously reported budget-friendly tablets from China. It is a low-end machine with 64GB of storage, quad-core processor, and Microsoft Windows 8.1 or Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system. And it is following the line of some high-end but cheaper Android tablets from China and European manufacturers.

Compared to Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab, most of these Android machines are also treated with quad-core and responsive processors. Aside from having a few disadvantage in manufacturing supports and warranties, these tablets continue to struggle to compete with other famous brands in stores.
  1. NVidia Tegra Note 7 - This machine started to appear in reports way back in December 2013. And probably, it is now available in European and Asian stores for about $200.00 only. It has a quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of built-in storage. A typical 7-inch tablet with Android 4.4 (KitKat) platform.

    1. Teclast P78HD - This might be the forerunner of Acer Iconia A1-830 or HP 7 Plus. Compared to Tegra Note 7, both are equipped with the same version of Android operating system and ARM Cortex chip. However, it has a few shortcomings in terms of storage capacity but it has a promising and elegant design for about $100.00 only.

      1. Ramos i10 Pro - Another line of dual-OS tablet with Intel Atom Z3770D, 32GB of built-in storage, and 2GB of RAM. User can also choose from either Microsoft Windows 8.1 or Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system just like of MeeGoPad F10.

        1. GoClever Orion 785 - This machine is coming from a European manufacturer with MediaTek MT8389 CPU from China. A 7-inch Android 4.2 tablet with a promising full high-definition (HD) IPS display technology, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage. It is now available in Europe for about 140-euro only.

        2. HP 7 Plus - To complete this five high-end Android tablets, this might be the cheapest machine among the others. Just like of Teclast P78HD, it is also available for about $100.00 only for an ARM Cortex-A7-powered slate and the same memory and storage capacity to Orion 785.

While looking for any significant difference, both of these machines are treated with underling modules from China.
